The Collaborative for Academic, Social, and Emotional Learning (CASEL) stands as the definitive authority in social-emotional learning, providing a comprehensive framework that shapes how schools approach SEL across the country. Impacter Pathway builds upon this trusted foundation, aligning our innovative technology with CASEL's evidence-based competencies to create meaningful learning experiences.

CASEL's framework identifies five interconnected areas that are crucial for students' social and emotional development:

  • Self-Awareness
  • Social Awareness
  • Self-Management
  • Relationship Skills
  • Responsible Decision-Making

These competencies have been extensively researched and validated, showing positive correlations with academic achievement, career success, and overall well-being.

Our 8 Anchor Attributes map directly onto CASEL's framework, ensuring comprehensive coverage of essential SEL skills.

Self-Awareness and Social Awareness

  • Curiosity: Drives students to explore their own identities, emotions, and values - key aspects of self-awareness. When students cultivate curiosity about themselves and their environment, they develop the introspective skills essential for recognizing their own strengths, challenges, and emotional patterns.
  • Perspective-Taking: Directly supports social awareness by enabling students to understand and empathize with others' viewpoints. This attribute helps students recognize how different experiences shape perspectives, fostering cultural competency and empathy.

Self-Management

  • Purpose: Aligns with self-management by helping students set and work toward meaningful goals. When students develop a sense of purpose, they gain the intrinsic motivation necessary for managing emotions and behaviors in service of their aspirations.
  • Self-Control: Represents a core aspect of self-management, enabling students to regulate emotions and behaviors effectively. This attribute helps students develop the discipline needed to delay gratification and maintain focus on long-term goals.

Responsible Decision-Making

  • Grit: Supports responsible decision-making by helping students persist through challenges and consider long-term consequences. This attribute enables students to maintain focus on ethical choices even when faced with obstacles.
  • Growth Mindset: Enhances responsible decision-making by encouraging students to learn from experience and adjust their approaches. This attribute helps students evaluate outcomes and adapt their choices based on past results.

Relationship Skills

  • Compassion: Forms the foundation of relationship skills by enabling students to connect deeply with others and respond to their needs. This attribute helps students build and maintain positive relationships through understanding and emotional support.
  • Gratitude: Strengthens relationship skills by helping students recognize and appreciate positive interactions and support from others. This attribute encourages reciprocity in relationships and builds social awareness.
